Welcome 2022!

Despite my best efforts, this blog is not a regular or cohesive publication. I don’t always post when I want to. Sometimes I forget about content ideas until they’re no longer relevant or interesting. When I thought 2019 was the worst year ever, 2021 said “hold my tea”. Despite all of that, I have survived. If you’re reading this, you have survived. Let’s take a moment together to appreciate that. One one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand. Okay, moving on!
I wanted to share with you some of my goals for the upcoming year. There’s five sections (I’m still trying to be an overachiever): literary goals, professional goals, academic goals, wellness goals, and personal goals. Whether you call them goals, resolutions, or just your good ol’ to-do list, I hope they’re helpful to you as you set yours.
Before we dive in, I’d like to disclaimer that while I include quite a few links, these are not affiliate links. I’m not sponsored and I don’t make any money through this blog or the ads on it (those are from Wix, not me). They’re things I enjoy that I think other people should get to experience too. Let’s get into it!
LITERARY GOALS
Read at least 20 books. My exact goal isn’t set yet, but that’s a blog entry for another day!
Read at least one book of the month from Book Lovers Club on Discord (link).
Clean out my Goodreads to be read list. It’s currently 1,666 books long and I seriously doubt that I really want to read all of them. (Link for my Goodreads)
PROFESSIONAL GOALS
Change my pseudonym to something more fitting. When people think of me, it should be because of my writing or personality, not because I share a birthday and moniker with Dr. Seuss. Also, it’s probably trademarked or something which is a big no-no.
Write the first draft of a novel. I’ve had so many ideas that I gave up on or never pursued. 2022 should be the year I flesh out my ideas. (Shoutout to Sienna, who gives me feedback on literally everything I ask her to!)
Post on this blog at least twice a month. It was important to me when I started it, and it’s still important now.
ACADEMIC GOALS
Pick a major that makes me happy. Whatever it is, whether it makes money or not.
Grow my LinkedIn network. This could technically be professional or academic, but I’m in college so I’ll consider it academic for now.
Continue learning Spanish. Being bilingual is important in this day and age, and I’ve already taken four years of Spanish in high school.
WELLNESS GOALS
Meditate at least every other day. I’m currently using the Balance app, which I’m obsessed with (link).
Continue tracking my health through Apple Health and/or Fitbit. Personally, I’ve used both for about 2 years now and I wish they were more compatible with each other. They both have some great features.
PERSONAL GOALS
Make some new friends. I’m a college freshman, so this should be easy!
Go on at least one date. I’ve never been on a proper date, so this should be interesting.
I tried to keep the list short, but I’m sure it’ll grow again before 2022 is over. I’ll do my best to update as I complete these (and make regular updates to the blog in general). Even if I don’t, Happy New Year from Ivy and I. May it be the blank slate so many of us have been needing.
