Reviews Policy

Hey! Welcome to my page about my policies on book reviews and ARCs! If you're here, you're probably looking to get in touch about having me review a book! Or you're just curious by nature. Either way, this page goes over what genres I do and do not accept, my policy on accepting books, what my reviews consist of, and potential giveaways.

GENERAL

I’m currently accepting select ARCs in any genre, but please look below to see what I like best! Please note I reserve the right to decline any book, though I may want to work with you in the future!
I’m opening to receiving print ARCs, ebook ARCs, and finished copies. If you would like me to review a manga, comic or graphic novel, please note that I would much prefer a physical copy as it is easier for me to read. Please also note that I do accept audiobooks, but I will require an additional week in order to properly listen and take notes on it.

I accept books in most genres, but here are my favorites:

sci-fi

I’m willing to consider reviews in these genres, but I don’t read them often and may politely decline:

nonfiction
religion
memoirs

TERMS OF MY ACCEPTANCE

If I accept a book for review, it does not guarantee a positive review. I am a fast reader with a high comprehension level. Therefore, I typically have no problem finishing a book and collecting my thoughts into a review in a timely manner. However, I would prefer to receive the book at least 3-4 weeks in advance before you expect the review, so we can discuss expectations and any issues that may arise.

REVIEWS

I make it my goal to finish every book a receive. However, if I feel as though the book will not be manageable/bearable for me to finish, I will mark it as DNF (did not finish), and give a fair review of what I did read. Should I mark a book as DNF, I will immediately contact the publisher or author to discuss other methods of promotion rather than the DNF review being published on my blog.

I try to practice kindness in every action, so it is my goal to fairly review books I do not enjoy with dignity and respect to the author, creative team, and book itself. I appreciate the efforts of every content creator and value their work even if it is not my personal cup of tea.

STRUCTURE OF MY REVIEWS

My reviews contain the following as of April 17, 2024:

-cover art
-a short summary
-my review
-a rating on a star scale of 1-5
-my favorite line(s)
-how to get in touch with the author/the author’s website/social media

My "star" ranking no longer follows Goodreads. It consists of five questions, each worth a star.

did i finish the book?
did i like it more often than not?
was the ending satisfying?
does it make me want to read more from this author?
would i read it again?

My reviews are a reflection of how I felt about the book and enjoyed it. I no longer feel as though "i hated it" to "it was amazing" is adequate in explaining how I feel about what I've read. I hope this system makes more sense!

GIVEAWAYS

I have currently never held a giveaway, but I would be willing to do so as part of partnering with you! My giveaway criteria will be the same as my review criteria, as I would not promote a book I haven’t honestly read.

If you would like me to host a giveaway for your book, please note that in your initial email. I would like you to include the following:

-Title & Author
-Format of the book (physical ARC, ebook ARC, finished copy, finished ebook)

-Synopsis
-Shipping limitations/requirements (US, Canada, UK, none, etc.)

-Time frame for the giveaway
-Any additional information (is it signed, any photos, etc.)
